A very important work from the Middle Ages, written by Paulo Osório, an author from Braga, born at the end of the 4th century. This work of his is the first great treatise on universal history in which history is treated not from the perspective of a particular nation, but from the point of view of the universal man. The ‘Historiarum adversus paganos’, written in 417, constitutes the most important manual of universal history in that historical period, having known more than a thousand reproductions and even a translation into Arabic. Rare edition.
