a6, a-f8, g10; lviii ff.; 270 mm.

A very rare work of Portuguese typography from the 1500s of which only 4 copies are registered, three of which are in the National Library and one in Harvard (see USTC 344716). In addition to these, there is the auction record of Reiss und Auvermann (1783) of which we do not know the purchaser and the present copy. This edition is an exact copy of the 1514 edition printed by John of Cremona, differing in the type and engraving of the face. At the end of the volume there is the printer’s mark of Luís Rodrigues, a printer who only worked in Lisbon, so the place of printing is easily identifiable. As for the date, D. Manuel presents a possible explanation that is worth consulting, with only the note that the privilege license granted by D. João III to Luís Rodrigues dates back to 1533, meaning that only after that date would it have been possible to the printer to take a Regulation like the present one off the presses. In addition to the extreme rarity of this book, D. Manuel highlights the beauty of its typography, considering it "one of the treasures" of his extraordinary Library. Very rare and very valuable.
