Obra de um A. anonymo, porém da Ordem dos Frades Menores, a qual he publicada agora pela primeira vez, como se lê no Códice 286 da Livraria Manuscrita do Real Mosteiro de Alcobaça, posta em linguagem e enriquecida de notas criticas e historicas. First edition, rare, of this life of Santo António de Lisboa, edited with the text in Latin on the even pages and in Portuguese on the odd pages he was named General Reformer of Studies by D. Miguel in 1831 and consecrated Archbishop of Évora in 1832. From an early age he revealed his critical vein of liberal ideas, which he continued to fight even after he left the country after the re-establishment of the constitutional government. The extent and diversity of his intellectual output attest to the strength and versatility of his intellect.
