Começãdo na cidade de Badajoz em Castella, te à de Milam em Italia, cõ alguas outras obras, cujo catalogo vai scripto com os nomes dos dictos lugares, na folha seguinte. [14] (vo. in br.); on its own frontispiece: "CENSVRAS by Gaspar Barreiros on Qvatro Liuros titled in M. Portio Catam de Originibus, in Beroso Chaldaeo, in Manethon Aegyptio, & in Q. Fabio Pictor Romano, In Coimbra, Per Ioam Aluares, 1561, ending with the colophon ; blank page. Father Gaspar Barreiros (?-1574), João de Barros' nephew, is considered one of the best Portuguese classical writers. In this pioneering travel book, he describes the journey he undertook through Spain, the South of France and Northern Italy. The section "Commentaria de Ohyra regione…" contains references to Columbus and other discoverers of the American continent, where Ophir, the mysterious land of Gold, was traditionally located.
