The best edition, first illustrated and substantially enlarged. The work was originally published without engravings with the title 'L'Amérique, Telle Qu'elle Est, Voyage Anecdotique De Marcel Bonneau Dans Le Nord Et Le Sud Des États-Unis', in Paris, 1864. Comettant visited New York, Falls of Niagara, Montreal, Quebec, Filadelfia, Baltimore, Memphis, Cicinnati, among others, leaving several comments about hotels, gastronomy, theater, high society, painting, music, slavery and society in the Southern States, etc. With a total of 22 engravings printed separately, four of them in color. Rare and sought after.
