FIRST edition, added, of this work by Alonso Alcala y Herrera who, despite his Castilian ancestry, was born in Lisbon in September 1599. From an early age he dedicated himself to the study of poetry and literature, having left behind some literary works. The present 'Varios Effetos de Amor' was published for the first time in 1641. It is composed of five texts omitting, in each of them, a different vowel. Two of the soap operas have titles that reference Portugal, the third, titled "La Perla de Portugal", in which the vowel I is omitted, and "La Serrana de Sintra", without the letter u. Rare.
