The work is attributed by Inocêncio to a physician, born in Coimbra and trained at the University of that city, named Francisco de Assis Castro e Mendonça. He practiced his profession in Mafra and was an army doctor, standing out for being a fervent supporter of homeopathic practice. In addition to some treatises on homeopathic medicine, he wrote some titles against England, including the present one. However, Inocêncio claims to have received a letter from the alleged author denying the authorship of this title.
