FIRST EDITION of the oldest Portuguese constitutional text. Voted in Extraordinary General and Constituent Courts gathered in Lisbon in 1821 under the influence of the so-called revolution of 1820, it was sworn in by D. João VI on 1 October 1822. This first text of our Fundamental Law, despite not having given originating in constitutional practice, exerted a profound influence on institutions and political law. According to Inocêncio (II, 97) larger-format copies were taken. VERY RARE AND IMPORTANT.
