First edition of this curious and very interesting História de Portugal written by the French historian Lequien de Neufville, born in Paris in 1647 and died in Lisbon in 1728 and which, according to FIrmin Didot, took him about 30 years to write. The work begins, as was customary at the time, in more remote times, not aligning with the descriptions of historically non-existent peoples, and ends in the reign of D. Manuel I. At the beginning of each chapter, the work is illustrated with a vignette open to chisel and a decorated capital letter. At the beginning of the first volume there is a portrait of D. Pedro II. Rare and sought after.
