§8, §§2, A-Z, Aa-Ff8; [20], 464 pp.; 215 mm.
FIRST EDITION. Published posthumously, it is considered Francisco Manuel de Melo's best work. Consisting of a total of four texts – 1.: Talking Clocks; 2: Miserly Office; 3: Visit of the fountains; 4: Hospital das Letras – addresses themes of criticism of customs, morals and vices and the use of irony and a joking tone, typical of the Baroque. The fourth is a literary criticism text in which four authors make assessments of Portuguese and Spanish works. Very rare.
¶ Inocêncio, v.2, p. 443; Biblos, v.3, c.599
