FIRST EDITION of the continuation of the first five books of the Chronicle General of Spain written by Florián de Ocampo. This work is the continuation written by Ambrósio de Morales (1513-1591), a Spanish historian and humanist, who added a historical rigor that Ocampo did not have and which served as a model for the historians who followed him. He dedicated his entire life to the study of Spanish history, even before being named official chronicler in 1563. Morales’ work is based on visits to the places he refers to, seeking more direct information, not just referring to facts, trying to contextualize them with customs, art, language, economy and other themes. Very rare.
