Dear edition. The Castilian text was prepared by Manuel de Faria e Sousa from a manuscript of the Portuguese text by Father António Semedo and was the first to be published in 1642, with editions in Italian, French and English published. Father António Semedo left for a mission to China in 1613, having traveled through its interior for 24 years. Father António Semedo's reports are considered quite reliable.
